CARNMONEY HILL

With some time to kill and noticing this on the hitlist, I thought I'd pop by. Parked in what's labelled on Google as Dunanney lane car park and headed up.

Good views from the top over Belfast and the southern part of Scotland in the distance.

Hit list called for detail on the DAB Tx antenna, so here they are.

From top down - FM, TV, DAB and TV Rx

All FM services are transmitted from this vertically polarised Jaybeam end-fed dipole.

UHF transmit

DAB antennas. BBC DAB entered service on 2 December 2010, D1 on 13 June 2013.

TV Rx looking at Divis. These must be fairly new as I don't notice them in the previous photos?

Four horizontally stacked, three element band II yagis on Divis to receive the BBC FM stations. Also another UHF yagi on the left for TV.

I'm guessing this must be the hut for DAB?

The Northern Ireland DAB site at Colinward. Interesting that the NI DAB mux doesn't use Carnmoney Hill. Colinward entered service in September 2001, 9 years before Carnmoney Hill got used for DAB.

Belfast. Slieve Donard and Slieve Commedagh the mountains in the background.

Kilroot power station and looking towards Scotland.
