LONG MOUNTAIN
Photos by John Rhodes | Page last updated: 2024-04-24 |
Originally the IBA 625-line distribution to North Wales relied on reception of Blaenplwyf at Arfon. This route proved to be unsatisfactory and an alternative was engineered by extending the existing SHF route to Long Mountain onwards to Moel-y-Parc, via an intermediate link site at Llangollen VHF. |

This 1983 photo shows the Long Mountain building and tower with receive and transmit SHF dishes. Also visible are the original band II, horizontally polarised, CSA skeleton slot transmit aerials. |
Long Mountain control/ telemetry rack, 7.5 MHz sound demodulator rack and SHF equipment sideways on. The SHF equipment not only re-transmitted to Llangollen but also provided video and audio for the cosited UHF transmitter. |
