Since Dan's photographs in 2011, this site is no longer used for broadcasting. XFM on 96.3 MHz closed in September 2015, the license then being re-advertised for a larger Glasgow one (4 kW instead of 200 watts), using Cathkin Braes as the transmitter site. Cathkin is around 11 miles east of Glennifer, with a better view into Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Nation Radio launched in September 2018 on 96.3 MHz.
The views from this site into Paisley and Glasgow are very good. On the day I visited, Ben Lomond was visible, as was Beinn Ìme. |
