GLENIFFER BRAES

Photos by Jack Richardson Page last updated: 2024-05-07

March 2024

Since Dan's photographs in 2011, this site is no longer used for broadcasting. XFM on 96.3 MHz closed in September 2015, the license then being re-advertised for a larger Glasgow one (4 kW instead of 200 watts), using Cathkin Braes as the transmitter site. Cathkin is around 11 miles east of Glennifer, with a better view into Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Nation Radio launched in September 2018 on 96.3 MHz.

The views from this site into Paisley and Glasgow are very good. On the day I visited, Ben Lomond was visible, as was Beinn Ìme.

The AEA antenna installed by Dave Stanley is still up there.

The sign on the right is not an Arqiva one, it is for Cellnex.
