The new combiner unit and rigid feeders

On these pages we will give you some idea of the work involved in updating a high power main station in the run-up to digital switchover. We are indebted to Laura, Ian, Colin and the team working at Stockland Hill for their help and co-operation, and to Mike Stewart of Babcock Networks Ltd.


Here we see the new feeder cables entering the new transmitter hall and linked to the new combiner unit by rigid feeders.












The overall length of each feeder must be exactly the same, to the nearest millimetre so that all the signals remain in exact phase.
