PONTARDAWE

New aerials - September 2024

Since Steve Tunnicliffe visited Pontardawe in 2002, the RBL source was changed to Kilvey Hill at DSO in September 2009 and more recently the transmit cylinder was replaced in September 2018 ahead of 700 MHz band clearance. The B700 channel changes were implemented here on 17-Jul-2019.

The tower lies within a Welsh Water reservoir compound. I was able to get near to the site from a footpath was runs from the north where there is a convenient parking spot in what looks to be a disused bus stop on the A474.

The new slimmer transmit cylinder with the former RBL receive troughs on Cwafan.
