THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

ABERDARE

Even though it is 19 years since Anthony Salmon visited this site, the only change to the broadcast aerials is the removal of the lower UHF trough.

These picture were taken around 8pm after earlier rain had stopped and the skies were clearing but only 45 minutes before sunset.

The UHF cylinder looks to be the original from 1967.

Radio transmit aerials. CSA band II circularly polarised panels for FM radio and two tiers of 210 degree facing, band III cardioids for DAB.

From this angle you can clearly see that there is no aerial on the northeast facing panel of the band II FM radio transmit array.

Band II receive. The 4 element Yagi on the right is redundant. Was used to receive Radio Wales from Wenallt until that service was transferred to Wenvoe.
