THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
BLUEBELL HILL A
Photos by Dave Stanley | Page last updated: 2025-07-29 |
KMFM chose to relocate their Maidstone FM transmitter to Bluebell Hill tower B following some problems at Coxheath. Transmission commenced from Bluebell Hill on 28th July 2025. These photographs were taken over more than a year which included the original survey through to installation. Very little has changed at the site since the last photos were taken in 2017. |

Tower A |
The trough antennas on tower A which are pointed at Crystal Palace |
Tower B. The large microwave dish on the right which has been added since the last photos were taken is pointed at Heathfield. The new KMFM antenna is above that along side the DAB panel array. |
Installing the KMFM crossed yagi antenna. Thunder storms were forecast, but luckily they failed to arrive. The DAB array provides coverage to the north west for BBC, D1, London 1 and London 2. |
The antenna had to be installed with a large stand off from the rest platform |
The south tower with the non broadcast tower behind it. |
Two DAB panel arrays on the south tower. The upper panels at 41m transmits London 3. The lower panels at 33m transmits both the Kent and SDL multiplexes. |
