THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
GLENGORM
Photos by Jack Richardson | Page last updated: 2025-10-16 |
Had a few days camping on Mull, and thought I'd make a stop at Glengorm and Torosay. Torosay I combined into a hill walk, ticking off the island's only corbett, but Glengorm was a fairly simple park up and proceed up track. Then back to Tobermory for a chippy tea. The update list called for photos of the UHF cylinder, which was replaced mid June 2017 in preparation for B700 clearance. It also appears that the band II FM panels have also been replaced. I find the FM transmissions from this site cover a fair bit of the west coast. Also the northern and western parts of Mull, like Calgary, Bunessan and the island of Iona. Oban seems to cover the south of the island, like Craignure, whilst South Knapdale also gets into the western bits. There are also parts where FM is poor. |
There are 3 towers at Glengorm. A BT site, the Arqiva site and Hydro electric. More information about the BT site here |

Comparing with the earlier pictures of Glengorm, the original Marconi band II FM panels have been replaced. Those on the left face northeast (45 degrees), and point towards Ardnamurchan. The panels on the right face roughly west (255 degrees) towards Tiree and Coll. |
Bottom TV Rx log and FM Rx from Oban, 29 miles away. |

Torosay 19.5 miles away. Also some spots on my camera sensor. |

The hill which Glengorm stands on is called Meall an Inbhire, here is the trig point. |
