New main band II antenna - April 2026

An update for Holme Moss showing the new main band II antenna. I believe the work was done around summer 2021. I was living in Manchester at the time, and remember driving around Salford and the signal on the reserve antenna had multipath and the radio kept cutting over to Llangollen. I guess the reserve antenna can only just see over the top of the Pennines into the North West?

I ended up doing a walk from Crowden up to Featherbed Moss, Black Hill and Holme Moss. Got home and realised I'd walked through the highest points of Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. It seems like a lot of counties meet in this area.

Still a bit to go...

The new-ish Alan Dick spearhead antenna system. The panel on the left points north east, the panel facing the camera west by south west, towards Manchester and Liverpool. The dish points towards City Tower in Manchester.

BBC local FM, a rather beaten up Pontop Pike monitoring antenna and national DAB.

Bradford DAB and reserve national FM.

Macclesfield Forest dish and monitoring antennas. RBS on Sutton Coldfield on the right.
