FINDON

Photos by David Neale and Barry Mung Page last updated: 2023-07-22

2005 & 2011

Findon was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 24-Apr-1975 to serve a population of about 2500 people. Channel 4 was added on 25-Oct-1985. DSO was on 7th and 21st March 2012.

DAB service dates: Sussex, 20-Jan-2004; BBC, 26-Sep-2014.

This is a very busy 35m tower for the village of Findon itself but all the mobile operators take advantage of this site as it has a good coverage of the main A24 road corridor where it passes between the South Downs.

Findon also formed part of the BBC's analogue TV feed link from Rowridge to Brighton Whitehawk Hill. Whitehawk Hill is now line fed, since DSO.

Our first three photos were taken by David Neale in 2005, Barry Mung took the final four in 2011.

Here we see the new post DSO UHF panels mounted above the original analogue panels. These new panels add a south-westerly beam, of much higher ERP.
