| Locals sometimes know transmitter sites by names which are different from the ones we know them as from the broadcasters' own listings. In this case I received photos from Kieran of a site he called Wickens Hill. This meant nothing to me so I emailed him back for more details... "Wickens Hill is just outside Brighstone and is a relay feeding from Chillerton Down mast for Brighstone and surrounding villages." |
| A plate at the site confirms that it's not just Keiran who knows it as Wickens Hill, though in fact it is located on Wicken Hill Lane, near Brighstone on the Isle of Wight. To us though, the site is simply listed as Brighstone, and it's a relay of Rowridge. This former IBA landlord site entered service on 12-Dec-1980 to serve 1,000 people. Channel 4 was added on 1-Aug-1986. |
