| The first picture in this set from TCPD shows why the tower is the shape it is to this day. It was originally designed for the Band 3 antenna, which carried ITV 405 lines on ch 12 with 3 kW, which entered service on 31st January 1969. Closed October 1982. The rest of the photos are from Ben Smith. UHF TV commenced with 3 channels on 23rd March 1973, with Channel 4 from June 1984. The UHF cylinder contains a south, southwest facing cardioid. DSO was on 11th and 25th May 2011. BBC FM radio was added in October 1981, with Radio's 1 & 4 from 1993. |
| At the bottom of this picture is the BBC FM radio transmit aerial system comprising of 2 horizontal band II log periodics and a vertical dipole. The 2 horizontal logs are pointing south east (145°) and west (265°). The vertical dipole is roughly south (195°). In this picture, the west pointing log is somewhat lost against the tower structure. |
| On the left, near the top of this picture we see the rear of 2 UHF receive trough aerials pointing towards Darvel. Lower, pointing slightly to the right, are 2 vertically polarised band II log periodics, which are used to receive BBC FM radio both Girvan and Divis. The direction is about the same for both. |
