ST. THOMAS (EXETER)

Photos by Martin Watkins Page last updated: 2011-07-15

July 2011

Not a great deal has changed here since my last visit...

UHF, ILR and DAB. The Ofcom parameters suggest that Exeter FM now shares the legacy IBA ILR aerial; RSL tests in the past appeared to use a separate Sira (see photos from 2004).

However, Mark Carver has pointed out that the bandwidth of these IBA ring and dipole systems was limited (94 - 98 MHz approx) and this would appear to rule out the use of this aerial system by a station using 107.3 MHz. If this is the case it's not entirely clear what aerial system is being used....

The BBC's FM system, used for both national and local programmes.
