PORTSLADE
Photos by Dick Coppard | Page last updated: 2023-07-13 |
Portslade was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 25-Jun-1982. Channel 4 was added in May 1983 when the parent site, Brighton's Whitehawk Hill, was equipped. The structure is a 17m wooden pole which is shortly to be replaced by an 18m steel monopole. As you can see from the pictures the mast is located at the top of a steep cattle field. It serves about 2,700 people living in Mile Oak which is located to the north west of Brighton. |
At the time of Dick's visit, plans were being made for a replacement structure - see the 2010 update for the rest of the story |
