THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

PORTSLADE

Photos by Dan Glover Page last updated: 2024-10-16

July 2010, updated October 2012

As noted in Dick Coppen's photos from 2002, the original wooden pole was due to be replaced by a slightly taller and more substantial affair, including a GSM site share. TV transmissions were transferred to the new structure on 5-Jun-2003.

By October 2012 the original equipment enclosure had been replaced, but this seems to be the only change for DSO

The sign had faded somewhat in the sunshine - and the replacement enclosure is unlabelled

2010: The broadcast arrangements appear unchanged but the compound now hosts a couple of additional cabinets.

2012: New cabin, same pole and antennas. Different weather

For transmit an arrangement of 4 + 1 logs, as before.

There are two VP logs for receive - maybe some difficulty in receiving a clean feed at this site?

2010: the original enclosure, on the left, showing signs of age...

2012: DSO-style replacement and feeder ladder

The site is on high ground near the eastern portal of the Southwick Hill Tunnel on the A27

The intended service area is in a hollow, across the main road.
