BROADSTAIRS

Photos by Dan Glover Page last updated: 2011-09-26

July 2009

As is often the case with sites like this, there has been a bit of discussion over which is the broadcast antenna. Dan originally suggested the folded dipole at the top, but it was thought this might be too short for Band II. The colinear (to the right on the third photo) was proposed as an alternative.

The Ofcom data gives maximum ERP on bearing 285 and a null of about 8dB between east and south, with the antenna at 47m AGL. So it may well be the dipole after all!

Next to the mast base there's a VHF or UHF colinear on a low-ish pole - which seems odd unless it's for local PMR within the buildings around the site.
