Eastbourne UHF was built to serve about 4,770 people in parts of central and southern Eastbourne; to the north and northwest of Devonshire Park, in and near Wellcombe Crescent and in parts of Carlisle Road. It entered service on 13-Feb-1987.

At 58m high, South Cliff Tower is the tallest building in Eastbourne. During Roger Moore's James Bond era he lived in the penthouse of this building.
