MIDHURST

Photos by Nick Tucker Page last updated: 2011-11-16

April 2008

Midhurst is unusual in retaining the main analogue array at DSO - although a new reserve/S2 array is being fitted. The main UHF antenna was replaced some time around 1994 with the arrangement of panels seen in these photos.

Below and to the left of the main array is a group of panels providing DTT services. This appears to be different arrangement from that proposed in the 1997 planning application but it may be there are other panels on the opposite face of the mast?

Pre DSO muxes 1, 2, A & B used the main UHF aerial. The lower panels on the left were for muxes C & D.

Just above the twin troughs is possibly a secondary antenna for DAB - the main array is further up.

Spirit FM is listed by Ofcom as using mixed polarisation with maximum ERP on bearing 125. Possibly the 4-element yagi on the right is slant polarised and carries this service?
