THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
POOLE
Photos by Michael Curtis, Phil Heywood and Chris Youlden | Page last updated: 2024-05-17 |
This Rowridge relay is located in the Parkstone area of Poole in Dorset. Poole was original a BBC landlord site which entered service with ITV on 17-Dec-1976 to serve 17800 people. BBC 1 & 2 were added in February 1977 with Channel 4 from June 1983. DSO was on 7th and 21st March 2012. From the launch on 15-Sep-1980 until 13-Apr-1990, the Bournemouth ILR service (2CR), was transmitted from this site. The service was then transferred to Nine Barrow Down. Wave 105 launched on 14-Jun-1998. BBC DAB entered service on 28th November 2003. |
Since the above photos were taken DAB dipoles have now been added at the top of the tower which apparently provide excellent BBC mux coverage to Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. |

In common with a number of Rowridge relays, a VP RBL log has been added. This makes use of Rowridge VP transmissions following DSO and will help protect this site from CCI which has previously blighted analogue reception. |
