NEWCASTLE (NI)

Photos by Jordy Lyons Page last updated: 2015-02-24

March 2003 and September 2005

This is the Newcastle relay, located on the Drinahhilly Mountain, Donard Forest, Newcastle, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

Originally an IBA landlord site, TV channels 1 - 3 entered service on 14th October 1977, with Channel 4 from October 1984. DSO was on 10th and 24th October 2012.

ILR (Downtown Radio), was added on 28th October 1998.

The spectacular photograph above was taken from Slieve Donard, the highest Mountain in Northern Ireland. You will see the Newcastle tx towards the bottom left hand corner (circled). I think it gives a really good idea
of the tx's service area.
