Bottom four pictures and text by Mark.

Visited the site in October 2008 and came across a installation which is strangely fortified to near military standards with a mix of a steel wire mesh compound fence and dense bushes which make it near impossible to see inside the site. Added to this is a steel barrier in front of the gate which is probably designed to stop vehicles ramming the compound gate to gain entry.

Mast stay blocks and the mast itself are located behind another set of fences inside the compound and the mast itself seems to be much stronger than those normally used by the BBC or IBA.

The pictures show what appears to be the equipment building, but looking a Google earth shows a compound which can be accessed via the two large doors in the pictures. At one side of the compound is a small white box which is probably the transmitter equipment for the ILR service.

ILR Leicester (Leicester Sound) relocated their FM transmitter from Anstey Lane, together with a frequency change from 103.2 MHz to 105.4 MHz, in January 1997.
