| Heartland FM operated from here between February 2011 and July 2013. The site was originally used by Perth FM, on-air from 5 November 2008 and we understand a single dipole might have been used for RSL operations from the site prior to then. After the licence was transferred to Heartland this site operated as a relay of Pitlochry. The move to the former Band I television site took place in July 2013. |
| The site name is commendably precise, except the bridge runs east/west and the Isle of Skye Hotel is if anything to the south of the bridge! A pair of dipoles can be seen in the centre of the image... |

| Ofcom data suggests the dipoles were phased, achieving a 19 dB reduction on bearing 100 and presumably maximum radiation to the west. Pitlochry is approximately north west so the apparently similar alignment of the dioples and yagi doesn't immediately make sense! Ofcom puts the site as only 9 m above sea level but the transmit antenna benefits from the height of the building and was given as 25 m above ground. Later: we've had information in from Martin Hobson, who tells us that the tx cardioid array was manufactured by "Radio Structures Ltd", and was indeed designed to comply with Ofcom requirements, namely to cover Perth but to restrict coverage to the east and south. |
