Comments: Torridon V/P is a relay of Eitshal

Hide historic services

Located near Shieldaig, Torridon V/P was a self-help relay of Eitshal serving around 110 households directly and a further 15 via its dependant "Torridon B".

There were two transmit antennas, one directed towards Torridon and the other aimed at Alligin. One has since collapsed. The receive antenna is about 10m away in the direction of the parent station.

The site used Wolsey 'Diamond Series' transposers - we hope to obtain confirmation of the channel allocation in due course. Mains power was obtained via a long buried cable.

Two Lochs Radio is planning to use this site for a relay to serve the communities around Loch Torridon. We are very grateful to Two Lochs Radio for the photos and additional information relating to both self-help installations.
