July 2011

Rinse FM started around 1994 as a pirate station operating in and around east London but was awarded a Community Radio licence in June 2010. Transmissions from the Bermondsey site started on 21 January 2011.

Maydew House is a 26-storey block (24 floors residential) adjacent to Southwark Park.

Satellite television presumably was not provided through the distribution system. As usual the broadcast installation isn't visible when close to the building...

...but moving away we see a pair of dipoles with reflectors on a lattice mast.

Slant polarisation is used, with maximum ERP on bearing 175

From further away it's apparent the guyed lattice tower is a fairly significant structure. Ofcom has the antenna height as 89 m above ground. The site itself is only at 3 m above sea level.

Viewed from Southwark Park. As of 2016 the building is about to undergo a major refurbishment with the possibility of additional floors being added - if this proceeds Rinse FM will presumably have to re-locate, at least temporarily.
