In 2015, local community radio station Angel Radio was awarded one of ten Small-scale DAB trial licences from Ofcom. The Portsmouth Small-scale DAB trial initially launched from a transmitter at Highbury College, before moving to Fort Widley in early 2016.
To improve coverage around the Leigh Park area, Ofcom authorised a second transmitter operating at 5W ERP at Park Community School in Leigh Park which went in to service in spring 2021.
In December 2024 the Leigh Park transmitter was taken out of service, due to it being largely redundant following the relocation of the Trial Portsmouth Small-scale DAB multiplex at Fort Widley from its original antenna to the shared BBC, Digital One and South Hampshire antenna. |
