Cowling is a dependent of Emley Moor via Keighley and serves the village which is largely beyond the range of Keighley itself due to a popular climber's hill known as Earls Crag. The mast is situated on a meadow overlooking the village from the north. The first picture shows the mast and transmitters plus a couple of sheep which seem to be ever-present at transmitter sites in this part of the country. The second picture shows the vertically polarised transmission aerials and the third picture shows the receive aerial just below the mobile phone antennas. This points to the Keighley relay which is about half a dozen miles to the east of Cowling. Originally an IBA landlord site, Cowling entered service in December 1987. |
