Hide historic services

June 2006

I came across this little relay whilst working in the lovely Sussex countryside. I have driven through this area many times and never noticed this tower so I can guess there was once a little pole or lattice structure here that has now been superseded by the usual mobile phone operators adding the excuse for a lattice tower...!

[Ed] The original structure was indeed a 17m wooden pole, built by the BBC and entered service on 7-Feb-1986 as a Heathfield relay with site number 139.15. The TV services were transferred to this tower on 19-Jun-2000. Due to public request for BBC South, rather than BBC Southeast regional programming, the BBC 1 RBL was changed to Midhurst on 24-Oct-2002. At DSO in March 2012, all three multiplexes now relay Midhurst.
