Comments: Campbeltown is a TV relay of Darvel and an FM relay of Black Hill

Campbeltown entered service in July 1968 with 405 line BBC 1 on VHF channel 5 and BBC FM radio. 405 line BBC 1 closed on 5th October 1982. UHF TV commenced with 3 channels on 28th November 1975, with Channel 4 from April 1984.

BBC FM radio was re-engineered for mixed polarisation in October 1986, with Radio's 1 & 4 added on 16th February 1993.

Way out near the very end of the Mull Of Kintyre just south of this isolated town.

Martin Briscoe's two black and white photos show the original Band I/Band II installation, with vertically polarised TV and horizontally polarised radio.

David Neale's photos bring us back up to date.
