Most sites are named after the village or town to which they provide a service - in this case, Bodmin - but this site is named after the remote and inaccessible area of upland on which it is situated. This may be to distinguish it from the nearby MF station or because the service area also extends northwards as far as Camelford and Wadebridge.
Originally an IBA landlord site, Penaligon Downs entered service on 26th March 1976, with Channel 4 from December 1985. DSO was on 12th August and 9th September 2009.
BBC National FM radio was added in September 1995. BBC National DAB on 28th April 2011. |
