THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

COMBE MARTIN

Photos by Martin Watkins Page last updated: 2023-03-27

Nov 2013

What would appear to be a new log rx aerial has appeared just above the top platform.

16th April 2014 update: we have reason to believe that this "new log" is in fact a separate transmit aerial which is used to feed the Berrynarbor relay (the only relay dependant on Combe Martin).

FM rx on Carmel.

Satellite dish used to receive an RBS feed for the 2 BBC DTT multiplexes.

Unfortunately I didn't have the right lens with me for close up, but here's a sad little relic from the glory days. The IBA must have had a whole load of personalised concrete boundary markers made for them, and seeing this little reminder of "the old days" brought a lump to my throat....

On the horizon can be seen the Welsh coast.
