Show historic services

April 2023

On the same ridge as the Londonderry site and not far from Holywell Hill, this is the Derry area transmitter for Q Radio.

There was some sort of work taking place when I took these photos. The larger tower only has Q's installation on it.

4 Sira FMC-01's transmit the 102.9 signal.

I assume this is a reserve antenna?

In between the Londonderry site and Foyle Hill lie these two towers. The tower on the left looks to me like it has 4 3 element yagis, and possibly a reserve dipole below. These all point towards Derry. Ofcom has a last changed date for Foyle Hill as 25 May 2021. I wonder if this was an old site for Q Radio?

The original photos of the Londonderry site also have a photo of this site, with a short tower next door radiating the local TV service Channel 9, which closed in 2009. This would have stood where the tower on the right now stands.
