THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

MYNYDD BAEDAN

Photos by Mike Smith Page last updated: 2021-10-11

October 2002

Here are some pictures of Mynydd Baedan, the site used by ILR Bridge FM for Bridgend.
The single vertically polarized transmission aerial can be seen, not quite half-way up the mast, just below the small microwave antenna.

The power of the transmission is only 500W but it provides a very wide ranging signal, which I have heard clearly across Somerset and Devon!

The lane leading up the hill towards the site had two small, but clearly handwritten signs at its entrance marked BEACON -> and at the entrance to the site itself there were other similar signs, one marked
CARS THIS WAY ->. Perhaps there was about to be or had been an amateur radio rally on this high-point?
