Show historic services

This was the transmitter of Dream FM. It is on the outskirts of Clacton. The site is at the rear of a large commercial nursery (plants not kids) and there appeared to be no way of getting close. But when I drove a little way along the road I could see that I could climb over a high gate with barbed wire on it and walk around the edge of a field and push through some dense undergrowth and sneak into the site by jumping over a ditch.

Dream 100 was formerly Mellow 1557 which launched on 7th October 1990, so this mast was previously used as an MF monopole radiating on 1557kHz - hence the insulated stays. The station became Dream 100, converting to FM in 1998. The transmissions were transferred to the new Arqiva DTT site called Clacton in January 2011.
