POSTWICK

Photos by Peter Bigwood and Sean Cooper Page last updated: 2023-01-31

Exterior Photos

Postwick was brought in service on 19th June 1949 with the Midland Home Service on 1013 kHz, replacing the wartime transmitter at Caley's works in the centre of Norwich.

We are told (subject to confirmation): 693 kHz is split between both masts, but everything can be fed in to one mast as and when needed (i.e. for essential mast maintenance, fault work, reserve, etc). There are acceptor/rejectors in each ATH so each mast can take all 4 services. The west mast radiates 855kHz & 1215kHz, and the east mast radiates 1053kHz with some directivity.

The first group of photos are from Peter Bigwood; the final three on this page are from Sean Cooper.
