Show historic services

Cotheridge was built by the IBA for ILR Worcester which launched as Radio Wyvern on 4-Oct-1982 transmitting on 1530 kHz. The site closed on 6-Apr-2010. The mast was demolished in 2014.

The high frequency of 1530 kHz means it was a short mast, and it also looks like it's got a capacitance top-hat, but in the 2nd picture, notice how the guy wire (which is electrically connected to the top of the mast) also appears to be connected to ground via the post. It was very wet when I visited and I didn't want to get muddy otherwise I'd have explored to find an answer!

[Ed] This mast looks like a Marconi type R5071 MF Folded Umbrella.
