February 2006

This site is well hidden in the undergrowth behind the council depot. At first, I was surprised how short the mast is, but on closer inspection you can see there are 2 sets of guy wires with insulators, and another top-most set appears to be attached to the mast as a "capacity hat". On the third picture you can just see what appears to be a long white bit (possibly insulation) at the ground end of one of these. Unfortunately it was a bit misty and I couldn't get close enough to see for sure.

Hadfield Road was built by the IBA for the Cardiff ILR service which launched on the 11th April 1980 as CBC. In 1985 the service changed to Red Dragon Radio, who also broadcast to Newport from Christchurch
