Updated September 2016

Langley Mill B is situated just to the south of the four original larger masts, it is a single monopole radiator with sloping wire reflector, directing the signal to the south-west across Birmingham - maximum ERP is stated as on bearing 235.

The mast is used by Asian station Radio XL. Because the antenna system is not as highly directional as Langley Mill A, and a higher power (10 kW EMRP) is used, the signal is very widely heard - it is also now the only UK station to use 1296 kHz

Radio XL launched in May 1995 - many years after BRMB from Langley Mill (A) - we understand the (B) site was established specifically for the new station.

We don't know the date of Mike's photo - but it was probably before the opening of the M6 Toll road. Nothing seems to have changed in terms of the MF site however.

Alan commented: the mast is in the middle of a field - although there is meant to be a footpath there didn't seem to be any trace "on the ground".

The reflector is to the left when seen from this direction - as highlighted below
