This is the Independent Radio AM transmitter mast at Peasmarsh, serving Guildford and Surrey. ILR Guildford (County Sound), launched on 4-Apr-1983.

At the time the photo above was taken, around 1987, Peasmarsh was broadcasting
'County Sound Radio' on 1476 kHz with an EMRP of 500W. The frequency was changed
to 1566 kHz in March 2000, and consequently the power increased to 800 watts to
take into account the greater losses at this slightly higher frequency.

We're really not sure what the RX aerial on the building is doing. It's pointing straight at the
mast. The only thing would be if it was an old aerial for receiving some other feed from further
away. It's pointing roughly East, though, and County Sound's studio is North. Who knows!
