October 2009, updated January 2017

Spark FM (formerly 107 Spark FM) launched in October 2009 and it appears from Paul's update that the transmission arrangements remain unchanged. Prior to being awarded a Community Radio licence the group responsible for the station completed a number of RSL operations as "Utopia FM" and similar names.

The transmit site is a block known as as Church Street North which is about half a mile to the north of the studios.

Above and below: Richard's photos show the installation at the time the station launched...

...from Paul's update we can confirm the station uses an end-fed vertical with an SHF panel providing the link from the studio.

As seen in January 2017 - no change to the arrangements - but seen in more detail.

The Spark FM studios at the David Puttnam Media Centre which is part of the University of Sunderland.

Taken from the Monkswearmouth Bridge, showing the transmitter and studio locations. (The block to the right of Church Street North is some distance away.)
