With self help number 520 this was possibly one of the last analogue schemes to be licensed and was a transposer of Winter Hill. The intended service area seems to be a small number of properties between the stadium and the sea front. Multipath reflections from the structure might have been the real issue, rather than loss of signal. Conceptually the self-help would have provided a clean signal on alternative channels but in the same direction as Winter Hill - therefore horizontal polarisation would have been used. As far as we are aware the self-help was decommissioned at DSO

The transmit antenna is a panel about half way along the west (Sir Stanley Matthews) stand, which was built around 2001. The nearest housing is just behind the camera position

Well, it's clear enough who made it, but what might this red enclosure contain? It's about the right size and shape for a "fireguard" with four dipoles

The receive antenna might be the one above the second window from the left
