Show historic services

April 2012

Trencreek started as an Orange site in the 1990s with GSM 1800MHz and then UMTS 2100MHz ("3G") services to Newquay and the surrounding area through the 6 panel antennas on the top headframe. T-Mobile also have a presence using 3 panel antennas lower down. More recently the DAB aerials have appeared at the top of the structure.

Now Orange and T-Mobile have merged into Everything Everywhere it's likely some of the mobile network antennas will be removed in due course.

Trencreek was rather special because it was one of two sites to trial transmitting "4G" LTE (Long Term Evolution) signals in the 800MHz "Digital Dividend" band. This trial was started in November 2011 and brought broadband coverage to 180 triallists living in ADSL "not-spots" in the area. The 800 MHz service uses the lower-most panel antennas.

DAB service dates: BBC 17-Feb-2012; Cornwall 4-Jul-2016.
