Radio Warrington's signal can be heard far and wide around the North West. The power is 100 watts, and being right next to the River Mersey (ideal for a medium wave site), perhaps no surprise. The site is owned by United Utilities, and without privileged access, I think this is the closest anybody's going to get.
Radio Warrington launched 16 May 2016, after many RSLs. Apparently, they had to use AM due to FM being too crowded in the area.
Listening to the station on the way to the site, the feed seems to be via webstream, and not radio link, which was stated in the planning document. Perhaps line of sight from the studios (in Warrington Market) to the transmitter was an issue? |
