Paul first visited in September 2016 but unfortunately the DAB antenna wasn't very apparent from close to the tower. A follow-up in June 2017 means we now have a clear view. The site entered service on 30 June 2016 carrying BBC, D1 and the Tyne & Wear local multiplex. We understand this site is fed via SHF link from Morpeth.

Above and below: September 2016. The DAB antenna is a colinear, mounted at the top of the structure, but when seen from this angle it disappears amongst the mobile phone antennas...

...it's mounted on a pole and is above everything else, but not when seen from here.

June 2017 - Paul comments: "If I'd moved a few feet on the other side of the tower, I could have saved myself a second trip!"

This is primarily a mobile phone site. The DAB antenna is the black colinear.

Paul reports the site being within the football ground therefore this photo is taken through the outer fence. Editor's note: I think there is a GPS "cone" on the white tube above the green cabinet on the left.

Editor's note: in the full-size version of this image it's just possible to see "WHITLEY BAY" on the Arqiva sign.
