Comments: Not to be confused with Dorking Surrey.

February 2017

A strange name for this site as I can find no mention of an area called Dorking nearby, but this is what all of the Ofcom DAB expansion planning documents call it. The nearest town is Yateley in Hampshire. Dorking, Surrey is more than 20 miles away. This site is at the edge of a field, part of Cottage Farm, which is at the end of Cobbetts Lane.

There are two towers at the edge of this field. DAB is transmitted from the right hand one. The buildings on the extreme right of this picture are Cottage Farm.

The DAB tower

As can be seen in this picture, an additional section has been added at the top of this tower for the DAB installation, judging by the shiny appearance of the steelwork here. The SHF antenna on the left, at the top, pointing west, receives the ETI programme feed from Hannington at 13 GHz.

Two tiers of Kathrein 5 element band III Yagis for DAB transmit. They point roughly north towards Sandhurst.
