THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

CANE HILL

Photos by Dan Glover Page last updated: 2011-07-16

April 2011

Since Rupert's photos were taken, virtually everything on the old hospital site has been demolished. The water tower, chapel and administration block were to remain but the latter was badly damaged by fire late in 2010.

A public footpath gives limited access to the perimeter of the site but closer inspection is clearly unwelcome.

It seems the equipment is in a standard-pattern enclosure at ground level.

The transmit array comprises two pairs of crossed logs, with a single log providing coverage in the opposite direction to the main lobe.

Receive appears to be a single log on Crystal Palace.

The chapel is to the left of the water tower, with the administration block behind. The chimney which once stood to the right of the tower has been demolished along with almost everything else.
