Show historic services

December 2024

The Clandown transmitter is a steel pole structure located on a water board site, close to the village of Peasedown St John.

It provides the FM transmission of Somer Valley FM (Linenblad array at the top), and also Small Scale DAB (on a folded dipole). Not sure what the second folded dipole is for. Looks like the site is fed over microwave radio link as there were two dishes on the pole, facing broadly south.

I was getting my car serviced in Peasedown, and thought I'd take a walk past the site. It's surrounded by trees and not particularly easy to photo, even in winter. Limited to just a camera phone, next time I'll be back with a proper camera!
