Dan Martin sends us photographs of the installation for community station Erewash Sound's 103.5MHz transmitter located at Risley, between Derby and Nottingham. The site provides coverage in the area around the A52 and Long Eaton, which would otherwise not receive good reception from Erewash Sound's main transmitter in Ilkeston. |
The equipment is installed on the side of a farm building. This installation replaces a Lindenblad array which was installed on a different building at the same farm. There was previously a licence restriction, requiring a 3dB null in a roughly easterly direction, which required the old Lindenblad to be modified somewhat. This restriction has now been removed, allowing an omnidrectional array to be used. Dan comments that reception in the area has improved significantly since this new array was put on air. |
A close-up view of the aerial array from a different angle. Transmission is from a pair of OMB MP-1 circularly-polarised aerials. The ERP is 50 watts in each plane. |
A more general view of the installation. The site is line-fed, so there are no receive aerials to be seen. |
