Updated August 2011

Lee: Here's a rather dismal picture of the Brook Bottom television relay which is a dependent of Winter Hill via Saddleworth.

This site proved extremely difficult to photograph due to its location in a field on the edge of hillside with no obvious access route.

Justin: This is the second time I`ve been to this TX, so because I was going back just for a photo I wanted to make sure the sun would be shining. Unfortunately even at only 5 hours notice, the BBC forecast was insufficiently accurate.

These shots required a bit of hill climbing and then a brazen walk.

Lee commented: If you look carefully you can spot that the mast consists of a wooden pole, which is vertical despite my photo suggesting otherwise.

The UHF aerials bring television to a very steep sided valley on the north west side of the town of Mossley in Greater Manchester.

Slightly over half way up the mast is a single vertically polarised Yagi pointing at Saddleworth which is two or three miles to the north.

Justin's contribution shows the site still has a wooden pole...but it now supports rather more than in the earlier photo.
