THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
EASDALE
Photos by Martin Briscoe | Page last updated: 2021-03-06 |
Easdale is technically on an island but the Seil Island is joined to the mainland by the "Bridge over the Atlantic" over a narrow strip of water more like a river The transmitter is in the grounds of a private house with the antenna on a small hill above the cabin. This BBC landlord site entered service on 17-Jul-1987 to serve about 210 people in Easdale, Ellanbeich and Kilbride and in three scattered areas around Seil Sound. There were originally two receive yagis but these were replaced by four higher gain antennas at some point before 2005. |
An earlier picture on a transparency. Date unknown but could be 1980s or 1990s. There were two 18-element yagis at that point The rest of Martin's photos are from 2005 |
Editor's note: I counted 22 end caps along the top edge of the director elements so this is probably a 24-element yagi? |
