Tayvallich is a small fishing village on the shore of Loch Sween. The relay is on higher ground just to the south of the service area. This site entered service on 31-Jul-1987 to serve 200 people. The original structure was a 17m wooden pole. DSO was on the 13th and 27th July 2010. |
The tower is quite a substantial structure and probably not the original for the relay... |
For transmit, the stack of "bow tie" dipoles. Reception is possibly a bit of a challenge, hence the bayed 18-element yagis. A 2008 planning application for DSO sought approval for a satellite dish and replacement of the transmit antenna - but it doesn't appear that these changes were made |
The relay equipment sits to one side of the tower base. Planning documents show there was originally a wooden pole next to this enclosure, with permission for the tower granted in 1999. |
