Comments: Tayvallich is a relay of Torosay. Pre B700 clearance channels: 46/43/50

April 2012

Tayvallich is a small fishing village on the shore of Loch Sween. The relay is on higher ground just to the south of the service area.

The site first entered service in July 1987 using a wooden pole structure. DSO was on the 13th and 27th July 2010.

The tower is quite a substantial structure and probably not the original for the relay...

For transmit, the stack of "bow tie" dipoles. Reception is possibly a bit of a challenge, hence the bayed 18-element yagis.

A 2008 planning application for DSO sought approval for a satellite dish and replacement of the transmit antenna - but it doesn't appear that these changes were made

The relay equipment sits to one side of the tower base. Planning documents show there was originally a wooden pole next to this enclosure, with permission for the tower granted in 1999.
